泊秦淮
〔唐〕杜牧
烟笼寒水月笼沙,夜泊秦淮近酒家。
商女不知亡国恨,隔江犹唱后庭花。

Berthed at Qinhuai River
Over the river so cold is the mist
and over the sand the moonlit so bright,
I moor my boat by the river,
a wineshop is near, at night.
The singing girls in the merchant’s ship no sense of the conquered’s spite,
Sing still Blooms in Backyard, a love song,
from the other side of the river, out of sight.
Moored on River Qinhuai
Cold water and sand bars veiled in misty moonlight,
I moor on River Qinhuai near wineshops at night.
The songstress knows not the grief of the captive king,
By riverside she sings his song of Parting Spring.
从军行七首·其四
〔唐〕王昌龄
青海长云暗雪山,孤城遥望玉门关。
黄沙百战穿金甲,不破楼兰终不还。

In the Army (4)
—to the yuefu tune Cong Jun Xing
The snowy mountains are darkened by clouds from the Blue Sea;
Far west of our lone garrison town the Jade Gate Pass stands.
Our armour is worn out from constant battles on the desert,
But until the Loulan are defeated we shall not return.
Clouds on frontier have darkened mountains clad in snow;
The town with Gate of Jade stands far away, forlorn.
We will not leave the desert till we beat the foe,
Although in war our golden armour be outworn.
春望
〔唐〕杜甫
国破山河在,城春草木深。
感时花溅泪,恨别鸟惊心。
烽火连三月,家书抵万金。
白头骚更短,浑欲不胜簪。
译本一许渊冲 译Spring View
On war-torn land stream flow. And mountains stand.
In town unquiet grass and weeds run riot.
Grieved over the years, the flowers are moved to tears.
Seeing us apart, birds cry with broken heart.
The beacon fire has gone higher and higher.
Words from household are worth their weight in gold.
I cannot bear to scratch my grizzled hair.
It grows too thin to hold a light hair pin.
译本二
Rewi Alley 译
Spring—the Long View
Even though a state is crushed
Its hills and streams remain;
Now inside the walls of Changan
Grasses rise high among unpruned trees;
Seeing flowers come, a flood
Of sadness overwhelms me; cut off
As I am, songs of birds stir
My heart; third month and still
Beacon fires flare as they did
Last year; to get news
From home would be worth a full
Thousand pieces of gold;
Trying to knot up my hair
I find it grey, too thin
For my pin to hold it together
